Hnina Gourmet Raw Chocolate
You've been eating right and working out since the New Year, making all the right food decisions. So what do you do when you just need some damn CHOCOLATE? There are plenty of sugar-ridden treats you could reach for...OR, you could try something better! Hnina's artisinal, single-origin, nut and seed-filled dark chocolates are the answer. Not only are they vegan-friendly, gluten-free, raw, and paleo-friendly- they are low-sugar, guilt-free truffles you're gonna fall in love with!
Hnina was started by French transplant Vanessa Morgenstern-Kenan after craving a healthy, low sugar chocolate option when pregnant with her twins, Carmel and Julia. The chocolates only contain a few ingredients each: Dominican Republic single-origin 95% dark chocolate, unpasteurized & sprouted nuts and seeds, pure maple syrup (or raw honey by choice), and Bourbon vanilla beans- meaning that on top os tasting good, they're loaded with nutritional benefits!
So the nuts and seeds are sprouted? Yup! Hnina soaks & sprouts all of their nuts and seeds, then lightly roasts them to release aroma and flavor. They keep the temp down to preserve as many of the living enzymes as possible. This also makes the chocolate easy on your digestive system and allows the nutrients to be more easily absorbed by your body.
When determining flavor/ nut and seed combinations, Hnina considers taste, nutritional value, PH, and protein content. We love that we can eat these chocolate AND feel the health benefits!
So what kind of flavors can you order? These truffles come in combos like macadamia & pistachio, almonds & hazelnuts, Brazil nuts with almonds & coconut, walnuts & cashews, pecans & pine nuts, pistachios & hazelnuts, and flax seeds with pumpkin seeds & sunflower seeds. My favorite? The Brazil nuts with almond & coconut. So rich and just the perfect amount of sweet. Plus, I'm a sucker for coconut!
These delicious, French concept chocolates are available in 4 (adorably named) sizes: pebbles (.5 oz), rocks (1 oz), boulders (2 oz), bricks (6.5 oz), or assorted boxes, depending on how much of each flavor you'd like to order. The most striking thing I noticed when I first got the box was the beautifully designed, recycled & biodegradable packaging. The box is wrapped in twine and stamped with a wax seal, guaranteeing that you're the only one to have your chocolates since they were packaged. Inside were twelve oddly shaped chocolate wrapped in biodegradable craft paper, just waiting to be unwrapped. The paper material is all made trough the use of wind energy, so these chocolates are good for you AND the planet!
These truffles will have you NUTS over CHOCOLATE! Order your favorite guilt-free truffles at Hnina Gourmet online, and be sure to follow them on Facebook & Twitter for updates and more info. Order before February 15th, 2015 and use the promo code FETTLE for 20% off your purchase!
** Thanks again to Hnina for sending us a box to try & review (we weren't paid for this, just given a test box). **

I was so excited when I found these chocolates. My friends tease me about how finicky I am about chocolate. So I paid the very high price and waited for Christmas to open them. My first thought was that they were not labeled so I was going to have to look them up to figure out which was which by the shape = bummer. Then I nibbled on two and decided to wait a few days figuring I didn't like them because I had consumed some pie earlier. Berry pie is very sweet. Two days later and nothing else sweet: everything's "right." The only thing wrong is the taste! All she had to do was make them a little sweeter with organic agave or raw honey and she would have chocolates to die for. As for this box, I wish I could send them back! I am so disappointed! My $50 would have been better spent on a pair of cheap boots. To each his own, don't waste your money.

Marquitta, I am SUPER bummed you didn't have a good experience with Hnina. The box we received was labeled for each chocolate and I actually really liked them! They are definitely not super sweet, but I feel like maybe you got a bum box- that sounds awful! I agree though, I'm always one for adding a touch more sweetness. I am SO sorry you had a negative experience, but I do appreciate you sharing your feedback!
